As a historian, I research maritime economics, port communities, and State building in West Africa. My work addresses aspects of the historical evolution of West African port systems, how infrastructures, work, and institutions evolved in the long run. I hold a PhD in Economic History from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. Currently, I am Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. I am affiliated to the IATEXT and I am the Secretary of PORMAR Chair on Maritime and Port Studies.
